Hardware Setup

This document covers the device exterior, button/connector locations, mounting, charging, and how to replace the 18650 battery.

Product Exterior (Common)#

The Master and Receiver use the same board and share the following elements.

Buttons & Connectors#

Front button#

Bottom ON/OFF switch (hard power)#

• It is a hard switch that physically cuts/supplies main power.
• When OFF, the device turns fully off and battery drain is cut.
• For long-term storage, leave it in the OFF position.

Bottom RESET button (reboot)#

• Pressing it reboots the device. Settings are retained.
• It is not a factory reset. Factory reset is only available from the Web UI. (See Firmware Installation & Update.)

USB-C port#

Master Specific (LAN port)#

The Master has the following additional hardware compared to the Receiver.

• Push the LAN cable fully into the RJ45 port until it clicks.
• LAN and WiFi can be used simultaneously. For details, see Network Connection.

Master OLED screen (6 pages)#

The following 6 pages cycle each time you short-press the front button.

Receiver Specific (OLED + rear LED)#

The Receiver shows status on a 3-page front OLED and outputs tally color via 8 rear LEDs.

LED color meaning#

• LED brightness and off-mode are adjusted on the Master Web UI Devices page. (See Web UI Guide.)
• For an LED reading guide and practical tips, see Receiver Operation.

Mounting (1/4" mount)#

Both the Master and Receiver support a mounting hole on the bottom.

Power On/Off & Charging#

Power on#

   Once the normal screen appears after boot, the device is ready to use

Power off#

• Setting the ON/OFF switch to OFF turns the device fully off.
• The RESET button only reboots; it does not cut power.

Charging#

• The device can be used while charging.
• Check the battery level on the Master OLED & Web UI Dashboard or the Receiver OLED.

Low-voltage notice#

• When the battery is low, the OLED shows a countdown and enters deep sleep after about 10 seconds.
• After charging, turning the power back on restores normal operation. (See Troubleshooting.)

Battery (18650) Replacement#

TALLY-NODE uses an 18650 battery, and it is replaceable when degraded or faulty.

Safety precautions on replacement#

Replacement procedure#

   Cut power

   Set the bottom ON/OFF switch to OFF.

   Open the battery cover

   Open the battery cover/case (on the bottom of the device).

   Replace the battery

   Remove the existing 18650 battery and insert a new one (BMS required), checking the polarity.

   Verify boot

   Close the cover, set the ON/OFF switch to ON, and verify it boots normally.

Pre-use check#

Check the following before first use.

• Does the OLED boot normally when the ON/OFF switch is ON?
• Master: does it recognize the network when a LAN cable is connected? ( Network Connection)
• Receiver: do the rear LEDs light normally? ( Receiver Operation)
• Does a charging indicator appear when charging via USB-C?
• Do the Master and Receiver firmware versions match? ( Firmware Installation & Update)
