Firmware Installation & Update

Install and update firmware over a USB-C cable with the web flasher, and keep the master and receivers on the same version.

Applies to the kit and the Free edition
Before you start
  • Ready-made kit: 02 · Hardware Setup done · Free edition: install step of the DIY guide reached
  • A data-capable USB-C cable (charge-only will not work)
  • A PC with the recommended browser (serial device access permission required)
  • Device powered on

Firmware installation#

Two flashers: the Licensed flasher for the kit (master/receivers) and the Free flasher for the Free edition.

  1. 1
    Open the flasher
Visit /flash/license or /flash/free in the PC browser → page loads
  2. 2
    Pick the role
Select the role card (master / receiver / Free) → latest firmware downloads
  3. 3
    Connect
Click connect and grant serial permission → device identified
  4. 4
    Install
Run the install → progress completes → done modal shown
  5. 5
    RESET
Press RESET once per the modal → device reboots on the new firmware (boot progress completes)
During installation
Do not unplug the USB-C cable until completion (interruption corrupts firmware) and do not touch the power switch. The flasher cannot detect the connected role — verify the card yourself. Flashing the wrong role leaves the web UI and AP missing.

Matching versions on both units (kit rule)#

The master and receivers must run the same firmware version (Wire Protocol especially) — updating one end only breaks tally.

  1. 1
    Update the master
Flash the master with the procedure above → reboots normally
  2. 2
    Update receivers
Flash every receiver to the same version → each reboots normally
  3. 3
    Verify pairing
Master web UI Devices shows receivers Online → list refreshed
