Network Connection

Pick the access path that fits your site and reach the device web console. Ethernet is kit-master only; the other paths work the same on the Free edition.

Applies to the kit and the Free edition
Before you start

Choosing a path#

MethodDefault device addressWhen to useFree edition
1. Router (WiFi Station)Assigned by router (DHCP)Same network as the switcherAvailable
2. Direct device AP192.168.4.1 (fixed)Quick setup without a routerAvailable (max 2 clients)
3. EthernetDHCP or staticWired use, direct cable to an ATEMNot available
4. USB192.168.7.1 (fixed)1:1 with a PC over USB-CAvailable
mDNS and defaults
On the AP and USB paths http://tally.local also works (prefix with http://). Factory WiFi: SSID HOME WIFI / password 33333333.

Router connection#

  1. 1
    Save WiFi settings
Device web → Network → WiFi Settings: enter SSID and password, Save → saved confirmation
  2. 2
    Find the IP
WiFi row of the dashboard Network Status (or the router admin page) shows the assigned IP → address shown
  3. 3
    Reconnect
Open the browser at that IP → console first screen (Dashboard) loads
The IP can change
A router-side static lease is recommended.

Direct device AP connection#

  1. 1
    Join WiFi
Pick Tally-XXXXXX in WiFi settings, password 12345678 → connected
  2. 2
    Open browser
    http://192.168.4.1 → console loads
  3. 3
    AP settings (optional)
Network → AP Settings: change SSID/password/channel, Save → rejoin with the new settings
AP defaultValue
SSIDAuto-generated Tally-{MAC suffix} when empty
Password12345678 (custom needs 8+ characters)
Security / channelWPA2-PSK / channel 1 (selectable 1-11)
Max clientsMaster 4 / Free 2

Ethernet connection (kit master only)#

Everything happens in the Network → Ethernet Settings card.

  1. 1
    DHCP or static
On a router network: DHCP on, Save → assigned IP shown. Custom: DHCP off → IP, Netmask (default 255.255.255.0), Gateway entered
  2. 2
    Immediate apply
Save → Ethernet restarts. Even with the cable unplugged the settings persist for next boot
  3. 3
    Verify
Ethernet row of the dashboard Network Status → Connected + IP
Direct ATEM cable — leave the gateway empty
For a 1:1 link to an ATEM both ends must be static (e.g. device 192.168.1.100, ATEM 192.168.1.240). A direct link needs no gateway — keep it empty (filling one can destabilize the link). The WiFi subnet and the direct-link subnet must differ. Set the slot Interface to Ethernet (09 · Switcher Integration).

USB connection#

  1. 1
    Plug in USB-C
Connect to a PC → the device assigns the PC an IP
  2. 2
    Open browser
    http://192.168.7.1 → console loads
  • The console first screen loads over your chosen path
  • The path shows Connected in the dashboard Network Status
